Reportedly, Apple will not launch it as the iPhone SE 4, but with a new name.Apple is known to have embedded the SE name for iPhones with a cheaper price. This generation has been available since 2016.
However, this year, Apple will eliminate its tradition. The US technology giant will reportedly name its newest cellphone the iPhone 16E, including the device in its flagship products.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg alluded to CEO Tim Cook's statement in the Power On newsletter which mentioned a 'new family member'. According to him, this means that Apple will position the device as a new addition to the product line, not a continuation of the SE series.
Quoting MacRumors, Tuesday (2/18/2025), Gurman did not confirm the naming. He only said the new name made perfect sense. MacRumors wrote that the new iPhone will adopt the iPhone 14 design. The screen will be 6.1 inches OLED, with Face ID support and an Action button.
The iPhone 16E is also said to get an 8GB internal RAM upgrade. Apple also embedded the A18 chip, which means the phone will support Apple Intelligence, the company's AI-based feature.
The A18 chip itself is known to have been used in the iPhone 16 series. Its use in cheap phones makes a big difference because usually the line only recycles the design and technology on old iPhones.
However, Apple has never responded to any rumors about its future products. So, we all need to wait patiently until the launch day arrives to check the truth of the rumors circulating about the iPhone 16E.
