KOMPUTER JADUL-, German State Car Manufacturer BMW also participated in celebrating the 46th birthday of MotoGP racing legend Valentino Rossi with the number 46. The famous German car manufacturer launched a special version of the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46. What's so special about this VR46?
This year is a very interesting year for Valentino Rossi. The reason is, the Italian MotoGP racing legend is celebrating his 46th birthday. 46 is the number used by Rossi on his MotoGP racing motorbike.
After retiring from MotoGP at the end of the 2021 season, Rossi glanced at the world of car racing. Rossi attended a number of Formula 1 racing car tests, as well as appearing as a guest star in the rally and endurance race.
Since 2023, Rossi has been a BMW M driver and is currently driving the M4 GT3 for the BMW M Team WRT in the GT World Challenge Europe, as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship. Seeing Rossi's commitment and participation in the world of car racing, BMW also presented a special edition car for the holder of 7 MotoGP titles.
The M4 CS Edition VR46 offers two distinctive design variants called Sport and Style, with both receiving a number of changes to stand out from the regular M4 CS.
This includes a color scheme inspired by Rossi's chosen livery and an expressive visual style, which uses two layers of exclusive BMW Individual paint. In the Sport version, the car is painted in Marina Bay Blue metallic, while both sides of the car feature a large number '46' in a darker Tanzanite Blue metallic color.
The Style comes in matte Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic and '46' in Frozen Marina Bay Blue metallic on the sides. The world-famous number is not only displayed on the doors but also on the roof (along with Rossi's signature), with these components made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).
In keeping with the theme, the grille lines and one of the V-spokes on the M wheels are painted in bright yellow. The color is also applied to the M brake calipers and the accent strip above the Sport variant’s door frames. At the rear, the tailgate features ‘VR46’ lettering.
Moving into the Night Blue-dominated cabin, there are M Carbon bucket seats covered in Black/Night Blue Merino leather, with Sao Paulo Yellow on the Alcantara shoulder area for contrast. The headrests and door trims also feature ‘VR46’ logos, while more yellow is seen on the Alcantara steering wheel. Each M4 CS Edition VR46 features a ‘1/46’ badge on the carbon fiber center console.
Mechanically, the M4 CS Edition VR46 is virtually unchanged and continues to use the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six petrol engine that produces 550 PS (543 hp or 405 kW) and 650 Nm of torque. Paired with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system, the 0-100 km/h time is 3.4 seconds and the top speed (with the standard M package) is 302 km/h.
The BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 will be sold to the public in a limited number of only 46 units. Consumers who buy the M4 CS Edition VR46 will get many benefits. In addition to being able to experience a car designed directly by VR46, consumers will also get a two-day visit to the VR46 Motor Ranch in Tavullia, Italy, and go to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for a special BMW M Driving Experience with the latest BMW M models.
"No other brand has such deep-rooted racing DNA as BMW M. I am proud to be a BMW M Works driver and share this passion. The fact that there is now a VR46 special edition, which I was involved in from the beginning of the design process, makes me proud. When I see the BMW M4 CS Edition VR46 on the road or on the racetrack, it will be so cool," Rossi was quoted as saying by renowned news journalist Paultan.
