Changan Electric Car |
KOMPUTER JADUL-, Ford Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jim Farley and Ford Chief Financial Officer (CEO), John Lawler praised Changan's electric car. They considered the vehicle to have very advanced technology. So, what was Changan's response?
Shen Xinhua as General Manager (GM) of Changan Southeast Asia Business Unit admitted that he was proud that his team's car could receive appreciation from figures as great as Jim Farley and John Lawler. This proves that the quality of the vehicle is indeed good.
"I am very happy and very proud that our car can be praised by the CEO of Ford," said Shen Xinhua while chatting with detikOto in Cawang, East Jakarta.
Shen explained that Ford and Changan actually have a business partnership in China. That is why Jim Farley is quite familiar with the cars made by the Chongqing-based brand.
"In China, Changan and Ford do have a good cooperation. In the past few years, Changan has been growing rapidly and has established a partnership with Ford," he said.
As previously reported by detikOto, Ford CEO Jim Farley and Ford CFO John Lawler recently visited China to see the Changan Automobile factory. In fact, the two of them had the chance to try out the electric car made by the local brand.
It was not explained in detail what type of Changan electric car the two Ford bosses tried out in China. However, the vehicle was a sport utility vehicle, aka SUV.
At that time, Lawler sat in the driver's seat, while Farley was in the passenger seat. Lawler was really surprised after driving the electric car made by Changan. He told Farley how sophisticated the vehicle was!
"Jim, (this car) is like nothing before," Lawler said to Farley. "They (Changan) are more advanced than us!"
Farley agreed with Lawler about how sophisticated Chinese-made cars were. In fact, reportedly, he even told Ford board member and former Goldman Sachs executive John Thornton about the fact.
For the record, Changan Automobile has announced its presence in the Indonesian four-wheeled market. They partnered with Indomobil Group to sell and assemble vehicles domestically.
