This is the First Touchscreen Mobile Phone or Smartphone in the World

Ibm Simon

KOMPUTER JADUL -, So far, many people believe that the first cellphone to introduce the touch screen feature was Apple through its product, the iPhone 1. In fact, the iPhone 1 was not the first cellphone to use the first touchscreen feature in the world.

Even long before entering the modern era, there was actually the first telephone to use the touchscreen feature.

But unfortunately. The presence of the device is not widely known by people.

That's natural, considering that the device was released before the modern era, where everyone can get information and news quickly. So if not the iPhone, what cellphone introduced the first touchscreen feature in the world? Here's the explanation:

History of the First Touchscreen Cellphone in the World.

Quoted from the Georgia Southern University page, the first device to introduce the touchscreen feature was the IBM Simon which was released in 1992.

The IBM Simon can be said to be the 1992 iPhone because it has the same capabilities as the iPhone that we know today, starting from the touchscreen, calculator application, can connect to the network, and can send emails.

But unfortunately, at the time the cellphone was released, the term "smartphone" did not exist yet. In fact, the IBM Simon actually deserves to be called the world's first smartphone because it is operated with the Datalight ROM_DOS operating system and is operated with a touch screen.

Another reason why news about the existence of this device is not known to many people is the price issue. At that time, the IBM Simon was priced starting at US$899 or around 2 years with an operator contract.

Given its fairly high price, the world's first touchscreen cellphone was only produced 6 months after it was first released. Even so, this cellphone managed to sell around 50 thousand units.

The World's First Touchscreen Smartphone

Entering the 2000s, where the communication tool revolution was getting more sophisticated, the world's people slowly began to be introduced to cellphones and other modern communication tools.

When entering the smartphone era in 2005 and above, a number of well-known cellphone brands began to design cellphones with different features and designs. Finally, LG managed to release a cellphone called LG KE850 or LG Prada which came with a touchscreen.

This cellphone was released on December 12, 2006 or half a year earlier than the release of the iPhone 1 on June 29, 2007.

But unfortunately, the popularity of LG Prada was less famous than the iPhone introduced by Steve Jobs. Until finally, many people around the world believe that the iPhone is the first smartphone to introduce a touchscreen.
