Google Pixel 9a and iPhone 16e Officially Launched, Which One is Better?

KOMPUTER JADUL-, The world-famous application Google has officially launched the Google Pixel 9a globally just a few days after Apple introduced the iPhone 16e. Both are the latest mid-range phones that carry a number of premium features from their flagship series, but at a more affordable price. Here is a comparison of the two in terms of design, screen, performance, camera, and price.

The iPhone 16e is present as the cheapest latest iPhone model from Apple, but still carries a premium design with an aluminum frame and glass body. Meanwhile, the Pixel 9a also uses a metal frame, but Google chooses a plastic rear body.

Even so, the Pixel 9a excels in the screen section. This smartphone is equipped with a 6.3-inch pOLED screen with FHD + resolution, HDR support, 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness level of 2,700 nits. In comparison, the iPhone 16e uses a 6.1-inch OLED screen with 1.5K resolution, supports HDR, but only has a 60Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits. In terms of screen experience, the Pixel 9a is clearly superior.

For performance, the iPhone 16e is more powerful with the latest Apple A18 processor, the same chip as the iPhone 16. This chipset offers high performance for heavy activities such as gaming and multitasking. While the Pixel 9a is powered by the Tensor G4 chip, which is also used on the Pixel 9 Pro. Although not as powerful as the A18, the Tensor G4 is sufficient for everyday needs.

The Pixel 9a also has an advantage in terms of battery life. This phone is equipped with a large 5,100mAh battery, with support for 23W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging. Apple did not mention the battery capacity of the iPhone 16e, but claims up to 21 hours of battery life. Unfortunately, this model does not support MagSafe wireless charging.

In the camera sector, both phones offer solid photography capabilities. The Pixel 9a is equipped with a 40MP main camera and a 13MP ultra-wide camera on the back, as well as a 13MP front camera. While the iPhone 16e only has one 48MP rear camera with a 2x lossless zoom feature. Despite its high resolution, the absence of an ultra-wide camera makes the Pixel 9a feel more flexible for various photo needs. The iPhone 16e is also equipped with a 12MP front camera integrated with the Face ID system.

The Pixel 9a starts at $499 for the 128GB variant, while the 256GB model is priced at $599. On the other hand, the iPhone 16e only comes with a 128GB variant for $599. In other words, for the same price, the Pixel 9a offers more storage capacity and more attractive specifications.

However, for those who are already in the Apple ecosystem or want to try the most affordable iPhone, the iPhone 16e could be an option. However, it is worth noting that the iPhone 15 is currently also sold at the same price, and could be a more worthy option to consider.

Overall, the Pixel 9a offers some very good value for a lower price, a superior screen, a large battery, and a more complete camera. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16e is suitable for users who prioritize high performance, premium build quality, and want to enter the Apple ecosystem without having to dig too deep into their pockets.
