North Korean President Kim Jong-un's Sister Deeply Upset With US Aircraft Carrier, Threatens To Escalate Protests With Nuclear Force

KOMPUTER JADUL-, PYONGYANG - Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of North Korean President Kim Jong-un, is very upset with the deployment of the United States (US) Carl Vinson aircraft carrier to South Korea. The second most powerful person in North Korea threatened that her country would increase the demonstration of nuclear power in response to the presence of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.

In a statement released by Rodong Sinmun on Tuesday (3/4/2025) morning, Kim Yo-jong, in addition to questioning the presence of the USS Carl Vinson and other American warships in the port city of Busan, also complained about the upcoming US-South Korean joint military exercises called "Freedom Shield".

"If the US continues to break records with its military demonstrations, we also have no choice but to set new records with the demonstration of our strategic deterrence capabilities," said Kim Yo-jong. "Since the deployment of US strategic assets to the Korean peninsula has become institutionalized and has a negative impact on our country's security interests, we are very seriously considering steps to increase all our strategic-level actions that will affect the security of enemy countries", he added.

Kim Yo Jong also referred to recent changes in US President Donald Trump, who is “expanding and intensifying his political and military provocations against us step by step,” Kim Yo Jong said. North Korea has tested dozens of nuclear-capable missiles in recent years, including a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) designed to reach the US mainland, and has sometimes seen the tests as warnings to Washington.

Pyongyang has not conducted a nuclear test since September 2017, while Seoul has sounded the alarm about the possibility of Pyongyang conducting a seventh nuclear test. In her statement on Tuesday, Kim Yo Jong said the recent US military actions “confirm” North Korea’s current push to fully ramp up nuclear weapons production.

A A A “The US routinely takes provocative actions that worsen the situation while ignoring the security concerns of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea [DPRK], and that Washington openly displays extreme hostility and confrontational intentions toward the DPRK,” Kim Yo Jong said. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, or DPRK, is North Korea’s official name.

The statement from North Korean President Kim Jong-un's younger sister ended by saying Pyongyang "will not just sit idly by," implying that her brother was planning military action. "It would be very dangerous for the US to mobilize more military assets to the ROK or test our will and capability," Kim Yo-jong said. ROK is the abbreviation for South Korea's official name, the Republic of Korea.
