KOMPUTER JADUL-, 10-03-2025- Skype, the iconic chat and phone service company owned by Microsoft, has officially announced that the service will be shutting down in May 2025.
The company shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday (2/28/2025), marking the end of an era for the platform that began in 2003 and has long been a staple for personal and professional communication, Anadolu reported.
“Starting in May 2025, Skype will no longer be available", the announcement read. “In the coming days, you can sign in to Microsoft Teams Free with your Skype account to stay connected with all your chats and contacts. Thank you for being a part of Skype”.
The statement said that with Teams, users will have access to the same core features they used to have in Skype such as one-on-one and group calls, messaging, and file sharing.
