KOMPUTER JADUL-, The well-known application company WhatsApp has just launched dozens of new features that cover conversations, calls, and channels, in order to improve the user experience in managing group conversations and general usability.
One of the most interesting updates is the Online indicator in the group, which shows the number of members who are actively using the application in real time. This feature is similar to that of communication applications such as Discord.
Yes, Discord has previously displayed the online status of its users. However, WhatsApp has not yet confirmed whether users can hide or set their online status manually.
Notifications in groups are also now easier to manage. Users can select the "Notify for" setting and tap the "Highlight" option to limit notifications to replies, mentions (@), or messages from saved contacts.
If you still want to get all notifications, users can simply select the "All" option. WhatsApp has also added a feature to copy emoji reactions from other users in a conversation, as is commonly found in Discord and Slack.
The “Events” feature has also been improved, which now allows users to mark attendance as “maybe,” invite one additional person, and determine the date and time of the event. Events can also be created via direct message (DM) and pinned to the top of the group for easy discovery.
In fact, for iPhone users, there are two exclusive features. First, WhatsApp presents a built-in document reader feature that can scan, cut, and save documents without having to open additional applications.
Second, iOS users can also set WhatsApp as the default application for calls and messages. This setting can be done via the “Default Apps” menu in the device settings.
Another update is present in the WhatsApp update tab, where users can read transcripts of voice messages they receive. Channel admins can now also record and share videos up to 60 seconds long instantly with followers, and share channel links via QR codes for easy access.
Finally, the quality of video calls is now claimed to be more stable and sharp. WhatsApp users can directly add other users to an ongoing call via the call icon in the chat window.
The zoom-in feature has also been added to video calls. This allows participants to ‘pinch’ the screen to zoom in on the video being played.
